The modern symbolic 'u blang synïaw' goat is dressed in a dhoti, turban and a human-face mask with male earrings (ki kyndiam); the Syiem (descendant of the Jaintia king) performs the sacrifice with a straight sword (not the curved khadga used elsewhere); the head is channelled through a sanctum-floor pit and an underground tunnel to the Myntdu/Myntang river. A sensitive topic.
