Devi Parvati as consort of Shri Ramanathaswamy; 'Parvathavardhini' means 'one who exalts the parvat-kanya (Parvati)'. A Sri Chakra is installed in the Artha mandapam. Darshan of both Ramanathaswamy and Parvathavardhini is essential to complete the temple pilgrimage.

Shri Rama is said to have marked the start of the bridge here with the tip of his bow — 'Dhanush-kodi' (the bow's end).
